Ive always said I needed a 58 Limited to go with my 58 Fleetwood and 58 Ninety Eight. never thought that would happen until one popped up on Craigslist less that 15 miles from me in Oklahoma City. I am now the proud owner of this 2 owner Black sedan that has been parked since 1976. It appears to have all options except air suspension. Smartin Posted November 28, 2013 Share Posted November 28, 2013 Welcome aboard! I saw that you picked the car up on the 58 Buicks page on Facebook. Very cool...how does the interior look? Does it have air conditioning? All Limiteds came with air suspension, but a large number of them were converted to coil springs early on. Does it still have the Flight Pitch transmission? It has A/C, Auto Dimming and of course power seat and windows but shows no evidence of ever having air suspension. My Oldsmobile is an Air Ride car, however. It was replaced by the dealer around 1960 but some of the components are still there. This Limited is body number 99. I wonder if any earlier cars are out there? JimJordan Posted November 29, 2013 Author Share Posted November 29, 2013 The limited is a little rougher than I would have liked (aren't they all?), but it is a local car with all history and I've certainly bought worse! We will pick her up this weekend or early next week. It has the black cloth/silver leather interior. The drivers seat is worn out and everyhting has a layer of Oklahoma red dirt. In this family since new, she was parked in 1976. i think a good bath and some aired up tires will make it look like a different car. The poor girl does need some dental work however. NTX5467 Posted December 1, 2013 Share Posted December 1, 2013 Neat pictures and some unique cars! As for Air-Poise being standard on all Limited, I don't know if that was actually the case. Reason is that I know of several low mileage '58 Limited, that don't have it (that I'm aware of . . . never did see them "sagged" as they always appeared "normal"). It could have been listed as standard equipment in some literature, but I suspect that many dealers wanted to sell Limiteds, but NOT have that troublesome suspension under it. Hence . . . JimJordan Posted December 2, 2013 Author Share Posted December 2, 2013 Well, we got her dug out from her 37 year resting spot and didn't even hit and trees or the 64 Cadillac parked snugly next to her. I found one of the missing Limited scripts but none of the diagonal hash marks as of yet. The only rust I've found has been a smal patch in the right rear wheel well and under the moulding on teh right rocker panel. Im sure we will find more when we peel the old carpet out. They have reproduction sets and are a bit thicker than the originals but most people wouldn't notice that unless a 58 Limited guy. Do you have the stainless rear window trim? I think the paint might even polish up pretty well too! Most people dont travel with polishing compond but we do! Helped kill time waiting for the trailer. Yes, some cleaning will indeed make / help her look to her potential!Even if you put a blanket on that front seat who knows / who cares. So the pecking order was Series 62, available in 2-door and 4-door hardtop, then up a notch to Coupe de Ville and Sedan de Ville, presumably with more chrome and a more plush interior. Got it.The difference in deck length is pretty subtle in photos. Must be more impressive in person. A friend of mine had a short deck '62 Cadillac Park Avenue. Now that was noticeably short, stubby even. Story was they were built mostly for wealthy New Yorkers, whose posh townhouses had under-sized garages built in the 1920s, which didn't fit the sprawling cars of the late 50s and early 60s.Anyway, back to Buicks. I'm dying to see that big black Limited, once you've finished compounding the whole 5 acres.
