Hello. I am looking for the best way to remove the engine from the DB victory 6. should it be disconnected from the transmission prior to or should the transmission and clutch come out as a unit with the engine and separated after?

Any help is much appreciated.

I would separate the transmission from the engine to make it easier for removal. Some may like to remove them as a unit. I would think that removing as a unit would be more difficult.

If you have steel floor pans/non removable than I would consider unbolting tranny and leaving it in place, if you have wooden removable than remove the toe-board and the next couple to free up the pedals and remove engine/tranny as a unit.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I have the removable wood floor pans and with the help of the engine hoist I withdrew the transmission out the passenger door quite easily, then the engine was shorter an lighter and i didn't need to take off the stick shift. Being the first time at this I was a bit surprised to learn that it was necessary to take off the timing chain cover and front mount to get the engine out...or am I missing something?

I thought so too but the front mount sits in a sort of pocket in the frame. Lifting the front to clear it is easy enough but the frame narrows towards the front and if you try to move back the block hits the body before the rear mounts will clear. I'm always learning so there could be something I missed but it sure didn't seem to be any other way.

You have to til the engine a bit in the front whilst lifting, it will clear the front mount first and then all the rest comes out
