Most rich men buy their sons a fancy car. Henry Ford bought his son Edsel a fancy car Company. He proceeded to commission the best coachbuilders to adorn chassis that were built to the highest standards. The Greyhound on the radiator was cast in brass by the Gorham Silver Company. Story is that they lost money on each car. Only the Fords could afford to do that, since they were the only stockholders. Richest men in the world at the time.

Sorry, I'm hanging tight that Cord must be in that list. The cost of the least expensive Cord far exceeded that of some Cadillacs, of which none are being singled out for exclusion. Cords were favorites of the Hollywood crowd and other celebrities of all stripes, virtually all of whom were financially well off and could indulge in whatever motor car they desired. Very pricey custom versions of the L29 Cord were produced by notable custom body builders of the era. Dave.

I am not sure how you can have that short list, when really any CCCA classic would have been a luxury car in it's day. There are many Brand on the CCCA list that are not on the poll.

If the poll were for most advanced engineered car, Duesenberg, Stutz, and Cord would be at the top of the list, with everything else quite distant.
