Guest drh4683
I'm curious which of today's tire manufacturers are still offering a simple whitewall radial without having to resort to the classic tire outfits like Coker, Diamondback or Lucas etc. My goal is to find an everyday radial without all the ugly serrated sidewall patterns with a regular narrow white wall. I used to use Firestone FR380's which were nicely styled tire, but apparently they don't make them anymore. The size I need is a common P215/75R15. Any info is appreciated. Guest drh4683
By "Serrated sidewall pattern" I'm trying to describe that excessive, often ugly "artwork" that so many manufacturers have on sidewalls today (The attached photo shows what I'm talking about, which I DO NOT like). I'm looking for a plain sidewall with just the brand name of tire. I think the Cooper Trendsetter SE as you've shown are a good fit as it's a simple, plain looking design. stock_steve
Bought P205/75R-15 skinny whitewall radials manufactured by "Hankook" from Discount Tires Direct in March of this year, @ $80 each, for my 2003 Buick LeSabre. Looks like they still have them available at that price (& free shipping)...Home - Discount Tire Direct
Rusty_OToole
Last time I needed tires like that it was for a 1951 DeSoto. Happens they were the same size you need. After some shopping and comparing I bought Marshal 791 tires from Walmart. They were the narrowest tallest I could find, a good 2" narrower than name brand tires of the same nominal size. They had narrow whitewalls, I prefer blackwalls out. But you could turn them into wide whites by carefully sanding or grinding the black off with a fine grit disc, or by painting them with whitewall paint. The tread and overall look was kind of old fashioned, certainly not the latest design. This was 4 or 5 years ago, you will have to find out if they still sell them. John_Maine
Unfortunately, as time goes on, I fear it is going to become more and more difficult to find regular, every day whitewalls without having to go the custom tire route.
Paul Dobbin
I've seen a whitewall tire with a slighly wider white wall (Mayby 1 1/4") with the name BROADWAY.Some big tire shops can get them in most sizes.
