BUKE
Just a suggestion. To the to the BOD are who's ever in charge of the Portland Oregon on show. If it's possible maybe you can include a trip to a junkyard(boneyard) I believe it was in Colorado Springs that they had one and it was a fun day for the men and woman. I know I sure enjoyed it but if left not. Maybe Missouri or Pennsylvania. Just my thought. Frank (buke) have a great Buick day
Fr. Buick
I'll go, I'll go!! And I call first dibs on anything remotely near 1954! On most any roadtrip, I pack tools, and sometimes a parts trailer, in the event of stumbling on a salvage yard. I also use a great little book, long out of print, "Roy's Wrecking Yard Roster" to help me find some real treasures.
Guest Rob McDonald
Great idea! Many wrecking yards depend on national websites to do their marketing and to field questions about parts. It's become hard to figure out who's got the old stuff, which never shows up among the online options. I'm sure Portland will provide rich pickin's - despite all the rain, cars don't rust out there and folks drive their cars a long time. It's not unusual to see 40 year old cars still in daily use. And looking pretty good, too.Obviously, junk yard tours won't likely become a sanctioned National Meet event because organizers have plenty else to do. It'd be great though for the locals to make a short list of oldies-rich salvage yards, which allow tourists with tools, and include their hours of operation. If there happens to be a yard that specializes in busted Buicks (one can hope), they might be interested in opening up on the Sunday following the meet.
