ncgirl05
Found this behind the Packard Museum in Dayton, OH when we visited yesterday. Can't quite figure out what it is, as it has two sets of front and back tires and looks nothing like a truck...

West Peterson
That is a Packard. Don't remember what year. The extra wheels are for moving it around only.

Guest VA 33
I know for certain the front axle is off a trailer house. The rest ???
Guest cben09
As West points out on page #4,,,, comments,,,the axles on the extreme ends are for moving only,,,and do not haveany provision for steering,,The strap iron holding them is crude temporary fitting,,At the rear of the runningboard you can see the rear hub, with the spokes broken off,,thisbetween the running board and the rear trailer axle,, To the rear of the trailer axle on the front ,,is the front axle spindle/w/the large area to hold the double row ball bearing of the king pin,,typical Packard feature,,The front wheel hub is missing,, thus exposing the spindle, which has no provision for bolts to hold a brake backing plate,,,, Cheers,,Ben Edited August 1, 2013 by cben09 (see edit history)
