bobj49f2 Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Can anyone tell me if the windshields from a '37 Special are the same as the windshields from a '41 Special? Also, are the windshields the same for the Specials as the other models? Thanks,
danhar1960 Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Bob,One of the selling points in '39 was there larger screen area to give more visibility. This is an illustration from a Holden body but it was the same for Fisher.
1939_Buick Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Series 40 Special's have the same body as series 60 Century, so glass is the sameSeries 80 Roadmaster and series 90 Limited have different body's. Expect glass will not fit your special (but do not have my parts book to access just now)
Mark Shaw Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Just about any glass shop can cut safety glass to fit a flat glass windshield. Just make sure you get the logo to prove it is safety glass if you plan to have it judged.
bobj49f2 Posted July 21, 2013 Author Posted July 21, 2013 The reason I was asking is there is a '41 being parted.out in the want ads and one of the parts shown is the stainless windshield trim. I thought if it fit I'd use it to dress up my '37. My car will never be professionally judged so I'm not worried about being 100% correct. It will have a '40 engine with dual carbs. Thanks for replies.
Guest Grant Magrath Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 In short, nope! As Danny points out, the glass area was increased from 1939. The windshield on our old 38 was way smaller than the 39. Sorry!CheersGrant
