GM FUTURLINER

I just started a model of the GM FuturLiner. It will be 28" long, 7-1/2" wide, X 9-1/2" tall.

You can see my latest model under the thread, VINTAGE DELIVERY TRUCKS, it was just competed, over 200 hours, and is a Art Deco car hauler.

I saw one of these that's restored at Hershey a few years ago. Quite an interesting vehicle. They had a model maker build several metal models of the vehicle for promotional sales items. They were large and extremely detailed and looked exactly like the truck. However, these trucks are lumbering oxen when driven. I think the attendant said top speed was about 35 mph. With only a 6 cyl. engine they really work hard. Interesting to watch the front dual wheels turn when it's driving. I did have a tour and got to sit in the drivers seat. The driver sits in the center of the vehicle and he is higher than the modern heavy trucks and you peer down on the traffic below. I'm glad that someone is trying to save that piece of motoring history!
