Guest jimstulga Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 Simple question for someone who knows, but I don't. '41 Antique car with original 6V system. Light bulb socket: The center of the socket receives the little bulb tit and is spring loaded and that would be the hot connection, right? The surrounding cylinder of metal around that part touches the outside of the bulb base and would that be connected to ground (the body of the car)?I didn't want to do wire connection experiments and end up doing damage since I have this wonderful site of experts to ask. THANK YOU!!
Rusty_OToole Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 Yes you have it right. The socket usually grounds right to the body. The wire in the center of the socket is power.
Guest jimstulga Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 Thanks again! Fairly easy fix once I knew for sure. My license plate light is glowing again and ground was the culprit. Jim
