Hey guys, I found what apoears to be a Select 60 for sale in Houston. Its a 39,000 mile care, it apoears to have all the right equipment for the Select 60, its white w/ white door panels, burgundy interior, cup holder ect....the preview of the '91 model is what my research turned up should be the equipment on the '90. Is there anyway to varfiy the authenticity of this car? I know records weren't kept to good and outside of the the x22 code to be found in the trunck equipment sheet, I cant see anywhere's it say this car can be varified by the vin #. The asking price is $17,000. Any input would be appreciated......I have a '90 base coupe I love which is in fair condition, but would love to have a convertible and a Select 60 would be the rarest of rare and a ptized collectible. Oh an no it doesnt have the emblrms, but i put no value in that as alot of these were sold with out the emblems.....

The Select 60 Should be white with white leather interior with flame red accents, it should also have white wheels in the style of the 91's even though it's a 90.. The burgundy interior sure doesn't sound right. USA Auto Brokers in Houston has/had a Select 60 that's a little rough around the edges, but it's got the proper white interior with the bright red accents.

Thats the car Im refering to. I was impressed with the low miles, but a little leary of the price tag, even though it being a select 60. I really love my coupe, but would appreciate a convertible. Im talking with another gentleman now that has a '90 conv. he wants to part with for $7k and has a '90 coupe with title he wants $500 for, which Im gonna jump on the coupe for the price.

Shawn...... the X22 code does not appear on the 1990 convertible, that was a code for the 1988 coupe.

I am not at home and do not have access to my records, but the 1990 also had a code but it is not needed because the 1990 is so recognizable with its white seats and flame red trim .... that is usually enough to identify these cars.

I also have a list of all the 1990 SS60 vin numbers in the event someone tries to "clone" one.

I am fairly certain that the car in Houston did not have that low mileage when it was first discovered a few years back.

Someone here certainly can find the link to the early post on the Houston car and we can verify vin numbers and mileage.

If you know the vin no, go to Reatta Data Page and look at the database, the mileage is probably there and the date when it was posted.

Yes it is on N Shepherd and it is the USA Autobrokers car. Ive seen it posted a ton over the last year, but apparently no one feels its worth the price.

Search the forum on this car. It has been discussed to no end 12-18+ months ago. Has a salvage title (if memory serves, it's a product of Hurricane Katrina. Seller bought the car for about $3,000).

Update: If I recall, seller originally asked approx $5,000 for the car. Then some 'knucklehead nomads' from the forum made inquiries, the seller felt all the attention for the car demanded a higher price (seller didn't know what he had back then and is still clueless). So he took it off the market, made some cosmetic changes and bumped his price to where its at now. Back then the car wasn't worth $3,000 and obviously isn't going to fetch $16K

There's a lesson here for EVERYONE to learn when selling a Reatta: Your target buyer isn't a 17 yr old high-school kid, a 30 yr old bartender or a 52 yr old dude in the middle of a divorce. Your buyer is a very specific demographic with discretionary funds, knows exactly what he wants, knows the historical problems the car has (and have they been addressed) and knows the car's value. Acknowledge that you're not selling a '63 split window Corvette and price the car accordingly.

Wow, Bushwack thanks.........I cant see a salvage title car commanding that kind of money. My apologies for reviving a dead horse.

"Salvage" in Texas may mean something different than Florida Salvage. Here we have two different "salvage" titles, Salvage - rebuildable (rarely seen) and Salvage - Certificate of Destruction (COD). With a COD it can only be sold twice and may not be registered. I would not touch a car with a salvage title except for parts.
