Caddy59
Hello,I´m a bit confused about the wiring chart of my Cadillac 59 manual page 12-47 and 48, the wires are named with a number typically in the 14 - 16 - 18 range, what dimensions means this? Are these fractures of an inch in cross section or wire diameters? It seems as the dimensions are reversed to the cross sections, low numbers means big c.s., big numbers means low c.s.In Germany, wires are identified with cross sections in mm²,typical dimensions are 1,5², 2,5² a.s.o.Thanks for advice,Udo
Guest Bob Call
UdoThe dimensions are American Wire Gauge. Look at American Wire Gauge in Wikipedia. There is a chart showing the cross section dimensions in inches and in millimeters. AWG numbers are inverse of what would seem logical. A 0000 (four ought) gauge is 11.6 mm and a 36 gauge is 0.127 mm.
