Bill Stoneberg
Before I put this on E-bay, I thought I would try here first.
I ordered a set of Stainless brake lines for my Buick at the same time my wife got me a set of "Universal Lines" (Meaning unbent) from Inline Tube. They are the 3/16 " lines.
I have used the set that was pre bent for the Buick and want to sell the "Universal" set.
The set consists of 5 6 foot lines with fittings on the ends. It also has extra fittings in the kit. The lines have a shipping bend in the middle that looks easy to straiten.
It is still in the original box and I will ship it to you.
I want $ 100 for them. They were $ 167 to me.
Send me mail at bstoneberg@ev1.net if you want them.
Bill
John N. Packard
Bill,
Have you had any success making a double flare on the end of universal SS lines? I have not mastered that skill, yet. (This probably should be posted under tech topics)
jnp
Bill Stoneberg
John,
A friend of mine who runs a garage lent me his Master Power Brake Hydra-Flair kit for the stainless lines. It made the flairs look perfect. No cracking and no ruined flairs.
We made them first time.
A little expensive for the hobbiest but it made beautifule flairs.
Now we will see if they leak later on in the process.
Interested in the lines ?
Bill
John N. Packard
Bill,
If I thought I could make a decent flair, yes. I've tried several times with no success. Ended up buying pre-bent lines as you did, for my 40 coupe. I have other cars that need them however.
jnp
Bill Stoneberg
John,
If you do many (more than 1 or 2) cars and you need a good flair tool look at this one.
http://www.mpbrakes.com/ac71300.htm
Easy as sin to make a good flair perfectly every time. My friend bought this 6 months ago and has nothing but praise. I was written up in the latest Streetrodder magazine too. I used it and it makes perfect flairs every time.
Bill
