rons49
I know that the Hershey Region sponsors the Eastern Fall Meet each year, and I can understand the necessity of having it in the same location each year due to the space needed for the swap meet and show. The show needs a lot of cash to start up and a loss could devastate an Entire Region, or be a enormous profit . My question is, "Does the Hershey Region keep all the profit?" (or fully incur the loss), and is there some reason no other Region hosts the show? Please, this is not a reflection on the National's policy. Other clubs are talking about centralizing their National Meets in the same location each year. I was under the impression that AACA National "helps out" the Hershey Region. How does this work? My Region has put on quite a few Meets over the last 25 years, but always it's first come when requesting the National's permission.
MCHinson
The policy and procedure manual is available online. It explains all of the details regarding hosting a national meet.Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) - Policy & Procedure Manual | Publications
Steve Moskowitz
Some simple answers, yes the region keeps the profits. They deserve it as they work hard all year long to put this event on and have been doing so for over a half century. Remember this is the EASTERN Division Fall Meet and we could and DO have fall meets in other divisions. Want to get boiled in oil, suggest moving this meet! Hershey has become the mecca for old car lovers and is obviously looked forward to each year by tens of thousands of people. It is home to old car lovers. The national club supports the event in a variety of ways but we are grateful for the work and for the financial considerations that this meet brings to the club. Many clubs are considering centralizing meets as in some cases it is hard to find the workers who will agree to host a meet. When you get groups like the Hershey Region and the Hornets Nest Region we all have to be grateful that these people give up their personal enjoyment of attending the event and work their tails off so the rest of us can have fun. rons49
Thanks for the heads up. I bet it is a lot of work and a lot of nail biting. Thanks to those folks who put the Meet on. All these years I thought it was a combined effort with National.
