Seeking advise on Maserati TC - hard brakes?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know what the cause of hard braking in my 89 TC?

Is it electrical or mechanical or both?

Can I risk driving the car to my mechanic (about 20 miles) or should I have it towed?

If you have a hard pedal, I would have the car towed. I've experienced brake failure twice since I got my TC (1999) - I did drive about 10 miles with the "hard" pedal and would not recommend it. You should have both brake warning lights on - (antilock and brake), the manual says that probable cause is either loss of fluid or loss of boost.

Before you head to your mechanic when you trun the key to the on position you should hear a pump running for a bit under the hood if not on the right side fender towards the front of the car is a black plastic box pull the cover off and you will see 2 fuses and 3 relay s check the fuses make shure they are good then check the relays pull them out an make sure the contacts are clean if the fuses are good the relays should click when you turn the key on try that first
