chevyrod1938
A friend of mine hot rodded a 1929 Dictator 4 door sedan(I know....how could he) and has many of the original parts. He has a complete engine with all the accessories that was running at the time it was taken out of the car. He also has the transmission, front end and I believe the rear end also. I have offered to take pictures of the items but do not have them yet. We are located on Long Island, N.Y. and all parts would have to be picked up. There may be additional parts but I have not been in the shed lately to check them out. If anyone is interested, please contact me.Thanks,Chris
studeq
Studebaker offered both a Six (model GL) and an Eight (model FC) on the Dictator chassis in 1929-30. Knowing which engine your friend has would help. You might also want to consider running a free ad in the Antique Studebaker Review. Would like to see the engine and misc parts saved. nvonada
Well at least he took the parts off rather than cutting it apart with a torch...
chevyrod1938
I made sure of that, I have an original 32 Chevy and understand the importance of recycling original parts whenever possible. The 29 was built as a resto-rod and has a 100% original exterior.

bifda
Chris, how much are you wanting for the transmission on its own? Also there should be a number cast in to the drivers side just below the top plate holding the gearshift lever. Can you please let me know what the number is. Does this transmission have the E brake on the rear operated by a transmission brake drum or is it operated by cables back to the rear wheels?Do you have a contact number?RegardsWayne Smith

The block itself looks the same despite some differences with mounting auxiliary's. Will this GL block fit my GE? I have to frieghtt it t Australia so I need to be reasonably sure. Thanks. nzcarnerd
The GL uses a shorter stroke crankshaft but I don't know how much other difference there is. Might help to find someone with a parts book to compare part numbers.

Guest rgreathouse
Would you be willing to ship to CA?
chevyrod1938
I don't mind selling to California but cannot pallet and ship it myself. If you can find a company that will pallet and ship the rear end, I could deliver it to that location for a delivery charge. I am located on Long Island, New York. Specifically, Northport in Suffolk county area code 11768. If you can find I place close to us, I can get it to them.Chris
