Guest RonJar
Hi all, the service manual for my car gives an idle speed of 7-8 mph. Does this mean that when in gear and idling, the car should move along at that speed? If that's what it means, is that in high gear or first gear? .......... Thanks, RonJ

danhar1960
It must have been a crappy job being the bloke hanging out of the hood while going down the road and adjusting the idle screw yelling at the driver : "Are we doing 7-8 MPH yet ?"Danny

Guest RonJar
Thanks lads, I'll try the 7-8mph in high, see what it's like for rpm.Does anyone know what that works out to in actual rpm? Ron
danhar1960
Motor's Auto Repair Manual says 450 rpm.If you don't have this book, I recommend it. Goes into great detail about all makes and models and is full of specifications.Danny
