Mr. Anderson Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Hi everybody, I have a problem with my 1990 Lesabre's cruise control. When I engage the cruise button, the light comes on in the dash, but the vehicle does not engage the cruise control. In other words, the light comes on, but the cruise doesn't. Also, when I tap the brakes, the light in the dash goes off like normal. I have already checked the vacuum lines to the servo, and they all function normally. I was wondering if anyone can help me with diagnosis.
NTX5467 Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 At what road speed(s) might this be hapening? Just curious. Is there a vacuum connection, by the lh front strut tower, which has a conical center section, with one side going to the cruise transducer?Just curious.Usually, when the "light" illuminates, that indicates that the item is "energized" rather than the device's supply power circuit being "open". Rather than doing just a visual check of the vacuum lines, is vacuum "there" (where it should be) with the engine running?NTX5467
Mr. Anderson Posted June 12, 2013 Author Posted June 12, 2013 Yes, I believe that there is a vacuum by the strut tower. Also, the cruise does not work at all, no matter what speed the car is traveling at. There is a vacuum 'there' at the servo when the engine is running as well.

Mr. Anderson Posted June 14, 2013 Author Posted June 14, 2013 Have you ever replaced any lines? No, all lines are original.
JohnD1956 Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 By this time many of the small original vacuum lines may have deteriorated, and there may not be enough vacuum for the system to work.
