I T just bought a 33 pontiac sport coupe dual sidemounts I would like to know how rare they are? I haven't seen any around. Also my vin no is six digits long 789470 is this correct? Thanks for any help!

Your "serial number" is correct. All it tells you is the number of the car ie: if your model or the plant where it was built started at 789000 your car was the 470th one built if they started at 788000 your car would be the 1470th built etc. Different plants started at different places. Other than pre WWI cars I don't believe anyone started at 1. "VIN numbers" started decades later. Instead of needing a style number, a body number, a paint number each manufacturer (with great nudging by our governments) devised a system of numbers and letters that would tell you when and where your car was built and what equipment was on it. My car was built in Regina, Saskatchewan on June 6, 1930, but if you didn't know it was a Canadian car and only went by the serial number it would become an American 1929 Pontiac. They are hard to remember but vin numbers make things much safer for sellers and buyers both.

Hello, I to have a 1933 pontiac three window sport coupe, I know of four more, mine does not have side mounts.

MY 33 came out of westchester county it has a metal trunk on back with rumble seat has an older paint job still trying to get it started, I think I need a rebuilt gas pump. send some pics and I will try to put my pics online
