8014haar
Greetings,Planning on removing the oil pan and pump for clean out on a 32 56 series sedan. I would like to attempt this while it is in the car. Any cautions or challenges in getting this done? Hoping some one can shed some light on how much trouble I am in for? Working without a service manual again. Thanks,Greg
Mark Shaw
I believe the pan comes off the same as my 31-57. Not difficult except for the two rear pan screws are hard to reach. And you need to slide it forward a bit to remove it.Oil pump is easy.
Bill - 29 Buick
30 years ago, I took off my 1929 oil pan off on the road and changed a rod and was driving again in just over 4 hours. I didn't have my splash aprons on, which might have made dropping the pan a bit easier. I agree with Mark, the only 2 bolts that were difficult were the rear pan bolts. Wear your oldest clothes as oil will drip from everywhere in the engine. You might also want to check rod clearances while you're in there.Bill McLaughlin1929 McLaughlin Buick roadster
