Guest whittj1
Another stupid question from a new owner of a 57 Thunderbird. Putting in "Park" car still rolls on a slight slope. Is there a trick or do I have a problem?
Guest DonnerVogel567
Could be a broken or sheared pawl in the transmission or might be a rod adjustment if the shifter position does not line up with PRNDrLo indicator.
Guest guidster
Also check to see if the 9/16" dia. cupped plug came out of the hole that retains the the shaft that the parking pawl is on. It is located on the driver's side back of the tranny. you can reach it from under the car, just run you hand up and you'll feel the hole, and take a small screw driver and insert it in the hole to see if the plug is there. the plug should be inserted with the cupped rim toward the rear of the tranny. If it's missing, you may have to remove the tranny pan to be able to put it back in position. If that's the problem, "missing plug", you can get one from NAPA, it's a 9/16" freeze plug, cost about 50 cents. Not hard to do, just another pain with an old beautiful classic.Good Luck
