waltmail
Anyone ever experienced a limited air flow situation with their A/C? Mine doesn't seem to be 100%. Is there a way to get at the evaporator area and check for blockage? I just completed a residential HVAC course and know that a dirty evaporator causes inefficiency. Ronnie
This link should help. Barney gives details on how he cleans the evaporator.http://forums.aaca.org/f116/evaporator-290998.html#post805946
Guest MercWagn
I have the same problem, but it occurs on all setting, not just A/C. I suspect my blower motor and cage may be the problem, but who knows. I will be curious as to everybody's thoughts here.
Barney Eaton
On the Reatta (and all cars with "automatic" temp control) all the air coming into the passanger compartment goes thru the evaporator. This happens even when the A/C is turned OFF, so it is quite easy for the evaporator to get clogged. The car manufacturers have solved the problem by installing "cabin air filters" on new cars since around 2000. They hyped it as a method to keep the cabin air clean and to sell more service, but the real feature is to prevent build-up on the evaporator. waltmail
Thanks for Barney's link. I feel foolish, since I actually posted on that link, back then.

Looks like I'll be performing the cleaning shortcut in the near future.
Ronnie
Thanks for Barney's link. Somehow it got pushed to the back burner.
padgett
Note: clogged evap, low flow across blower module, overheating blower mod, failed blower module.
