rogold99 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Finally got some nice weather here in eastern Nebraska, so I decided to fix my fuel gauge that has been reading empty since I bought the car last fall. Thanks to Jim Finn (fuel sending unit) and Reatta Owners Journal (for great instructions) I now have a fully functional gauge! Took about 6 hours by myself, no surprises, a lot of the time wasted draining the tank of gas (had to buy another 5 gal can). Only downside is, the wife was afraid to drive it before with no working gauge Now I will have to keep my eye on it. Time to start planning my next project...

Jim Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Odd thing on the gauge on my winter driver. When i got the car the gauge was all the way down and drove it that way for a month or so. In the process of testing the gauge unit I sent to rogold99 I used my car as the test car and found I had a broken wire at the connector. I fixed the wire and then for the last 5 months the gauge always read full. I quit driving the car last week and am either going to part it out or sell it as a complete car for $ 1200. During the five months the gauge read full, I simply recorded the mileage and filled up at about 250 miles. About 3 weeks ago the gauge started working correctly on it's own and now works. Guessing there was corrosion in the gauge unit and it finally came clean and now works.'90 White with a burgundy interior.
