RivNut
I haven't changed computers nor have I done anything differently to change anything. All of a sudden there's no way to create a new paragraph. It's like the enter key isn't working. I know it is because it works on a couple of other forums, and in Word, Excel, on power points, and in both my email accounts. I know others are having this problem as well. I just received a private message in the same one paragraph format. Makes me look like I wasted all that money on my Master's Degree and need to go back to high school and take freshman English over again. Ben Bruce aka First Born
Ed, I am using Google Chrome for a browser. No problem. Just hit enter for this sentence and it works. Ben

MCHinson
Here is the prior discussion:http://forums.aaca.org/f131/ok-heres-something-weird-348988.htmlI would guess that you are using Internet Explorer. It appears to be an issue with Internet Explorer. I suspect it happened after your Internet Explorer's last update, with some different hardware configurations. I never had the problem, but recently switched to Google Chrome, and after hating it for about two days, I love it. It did take a little getting used to, but it works better for me than Internet Explorer ever did.
TexRiv_63
I am having the same problem and I have Internet Explorer which I'm pretty sure is still the most common browser around. It is absolutely ridiculous that I or anyone should have to change browser programs in order to type posts on a worldwide site like this, I'm sure there is a more reasonable solution - Help - Peter G! Guest Bob Call
I changed my old desktop computer to Firefox some years back. Never a problem. More recently I bought a new notebook and after a month of so Internet Explorer quit working. When I tried to reload IE it gave failure message that it couldn't install because the version on the computer was newer than the version attempting to install. I was trying to re-install from the DVD that came with computer from which the original install was made. Switched the notebook to Firefox. If Apple computers weren't so high priced I would dump Microsoft in a heartbeat. I think I'll try Linux on a desktop.

MCHinson
TexRiv_63,Like I said, I never had that problem with Internet Explorer personally, but it is apparently some sort of Internet Explorer glitch that only occurs with some particular hardware configurations. Perhaps the next internet explorer update will fix the problem for you. I only offer that for a few different reasons, I switched to Google Chrome and it runs faster and solved a few other minor irritations I was having with Internet Explorer. If you want an easy instant fix, a different browser looks like the easiest way to fix it. You may also try Microsoft Customer Support, perhaps they have or can create a fix for it. danhar1960
I found this on another website, worth a try and see what happens. For some reason, the "carriage return" button doesn't work on this forum for Internet Explorer 10, but does for Firefox. To fix this, while in your IE browser; go to "Tools", "Compatibility View Settings". You will see that "THIS FORUMS NAME" is already in the top input text box. Just click the "Add" button to add "THIS FORUM" to your list of compatibility websites and press the "Close" button. Close your browser and then go back into the forum and the carriage return button should now work. For what it's worth, I've checked 3 computers that are all OK and dont have this problem. They are all in "Display all websites in Compatability view"Maybe that helps.Danny

RivNut
Found it!It's not your computer, keyboard, operating system, or internet provider. There's a link to change the editor in the forum itself. Apparently there is a new enhanced editor. If you go to settings at the top of the page, then general settings on the left, about half way down you will see the "miscellaneous settings", set it to "standard editor" then it works like you're used to it working. Makes you look smart again. (Notice space between paragraphs and left alignment after hitting the 'enter' key.)Thanks to Steele Cooper over on the Riviera Owners forum for pointing this out to me.Ed

John_Maine
I've been wondering about this myself and it wasn't happening just on this forum. I changed it here, I'll have to see if I can figure it out on the other forum when I run into it again.
