Guest Riviera1963
Hello, I recently purchased a 1963 Riviera Project, and I just wanted to introduce myself. While I am not new to the project car world, this is my first Buick. I have only had the car a few hours now and already have run into something that I thought I should ask about. There is a button to the right of the HighBeam toggle button, just behind the brake pedal, and I have no Idea what I goes to, or what it does. My father thinks it is a push-button start, but I am not sure. Here are some pictures Edited May 19, 2013 by Riviera1963 (see edit history)
60FlatTop
On my '62 Electra that button was the signal search for the radio tuner. Check the radio for a bar above the station number window. You can activate it either way.Bernie
RivNut
That button is a remote seek button for the wonder-bar radio. Press it once and the radio will seek the next station that has a strong enough signal to be pulled in. On the radio itself, there is a bar that does the same thing. There's a smaller button/bar/lever that you can slide left and right to raise or lower what strength signal you want to pull in.There should also be a thumb button above the radio - intermingled with the a/c and heater controls - that is the switch for raising and lowering the power antenna. This all takes for granted that your car still has its original radio.Check out the link in my signature for information on the Riviera Owners Assoc. An original chassis manual and a membership in the ROA are the two best restoration tools you can buy.Ed
