Guest brass-is-class
ARE 34 X 4 TIRES TOO SMALL FOR YOUR CAR? ARE 36 X 5 TIRES TOO BIG? UNIVERSAL TIRE YEARS AGO MANUFACTURED 35 X 4 1/2s. THE MOLD MAY STILL EXIST. IN TALKING WITH THE MANUFACTURER, THERE MAY BE A CHANCE TO HAVE A RUN OF THIS SIZE MADE IN BLACKS AND WHITES, RIBBED TREAD. FIRESTONE NON-SKIDS COULD ALSO BE AVAILABLE IF THE UNIVERSAL MOLD CANNOT BE LOCATED. THERE NEEDS TO BE SUFFICIENT INTEREST IN THIS SIZE FOR THE MANUFACTURER TO PRODUCE A RUN. PLEASE CONTACT ME IF YOU ARE INTERESTED AND THE QUANTITY YOU ARE LOOKING FOR. IT WOULD BE WISE TO INCLUDE SPARES ALSO IN YOUR QUANTITY. I WILL RELAY THIS INFORMATION TO THE MANUFACTURER. (NOTE: This is only a polling exercise to gauge interest. I am not taking orders and I have no authority to do so by the manufacturer.) HOPEFULLY THERE IS ENOUGH INTEREST TO SUCCESSFULLY GET THESE TIRES MANUFACTURED ONCE MORE. Dandy Dave
My 1915 Buick has 26 inch rims. It now has 36 X 5 Gehrig tires on it. I dread the day when I have to change them as these Wide White wall tires look really good on it. The tires are actually over size on the height. Tires that I see that are available are black wall only. That would totally change the look of my car. My car came from the factory with 34 X 4's according to the original documents. The spare is suppose to be in the trunk, ( Which is the first car produced to have the spare in the trunk. Buick did this on the 1915 C-36 Roadster models.) But none of the spare tires that I have will fit as they are all too tall. Dandy Dave! I'm trying to get 35 x 4 1/2s made for my car, a 1913 Moyer Six Touring, which was originally supplied with the 35 x 4 1/2s. I'm hoping others that need that size also, will contact me so I can get a list of interested owners compiled that would want to order them if available. Gehrigs aren't made anymore, but Coker Tire has the Goodrich Silvertown Whitewalls, 34 x 4, available, so you're in luck! Yes! I agree, that 36 x 5 is way too big for your car as you said. Not much clearance under the fender and also, the larger tires make it more difficult to steer. You might want to check Coker's website and look at the Silvertown whitewalls. They are a very nice looking tire and they would keep the same "look" that you now have. Good luck!
Dandy Dave
Here they are.... http://www.cokertire.com/tire-styles/34x4-goodrich-cord-2-1-8-whitewall-tire.htmlActually, my car is large enough that the big tires do not affect it. Even with the oversize tires it has plenty of clearance under the fenders for them and it steers OK. I put a bug in Corky Cokers's uncle Bobs ear a while back that no one had White walls in that size. Uncle Bob must have said something. Glad to see that they are available in WW now. It sure adds class to some autos. Thanks, Dandy Dave! Edited May 14, 2013 by Dandy Dave (see edit history)
UVT_Mike
I can confirm the Universal 35 x 4 1/2 mold does exist and that is being prepared for production. We hope to have the first production run available late this year or early 2014.

Appreciate it very much!We hope they will be made in black and all-white!I have a few questions. I heard from another member in an e-mail yesterday that there were some problems with the last run with the fit in trying to get the tires on Stanweld Rims rims with outer rings and lock ring. Is that so and if so, has it been corrected? Are flaps and tubes going to be available also? And lastly, do you know if Firestone Non-Skids in this size will be produced (assuming you might have inside info being Coker Tire owns Universal)?Thank you Mike!Gary (brass-is-class) Edited May 15, 2013 by brass-is-class (see edit history)
