Guest Wellwoodntit
Hi, My recently purchased Reatta Has a problem, the number 7 15 amp fuse blows as soon as the engine revs are increased to about 2000rpm.Then the engine service light comes on. Self diagnostic system tells me of a Code 26 error. I have disconnected the Aircon compressor [no different] & the EGR solenoids [ no effect & still the fuse blows]. Any help would be gratefully appreciated Cheers John ... PS. I am new to this computer stuff ,so forgive me if I am not "doing it correctly" John
Ronnie
Welcome to the forum! As the RPM goes past 2000 have you watched the voltmeter to see how high it goes? I'm thinking you might have a bad voltage regulator in the alternator or a bad ground connection somewhere. Any more details you can provide? We have just put a Voltmeter [ Multi meter] on the alternator out & it registered a steady 15.2 volts at 2500 rpm. It seems that the canister purge valve is on the same circuit . Could this be the problem? if so any idea where it is located . thanks John
Ronnie
Does the fuse only blow if your driving or will it blow sitting in the driveway when rpm goes past 2000? I don't understand how rpm comes into play. Just as a test unplug the electrical connector to the transmission and see if it still blows. If it does NOT blow the torque converter (TCC) solenoid might be shorted. A bad TCC will set a code 26. A bad TCC will set a code 26.OK I THINK we have solved the problem, We disconnected the canister solenoid & thought we had it fixed ,but 2 miles down the road it blew again .[ Back to the drawing board ] On a hunch that we may have disturbed some wires whilst removing the air cleaner etc. we got underneath & the conduit was rotten & the pink/black lead was shorting on the subframe, a bit of tape and a new length of plastic conduit & bingo ,it seems OK . Anyway thanks for your help & we will keep our fingers [& toes ] crossed . Cheers for now John @ Las Vegas :D

padgett
15.2v is high for any battery and bad for an AGM, should be regulating to 13.8-14.4 vdc.
Guest BJM
Ronnie had the answer initially, short to ground. Thank goodness for fuses.
