Hello,

I found this 1975 Chevy Nova Custom where I live.

It has original 14,XXX miles and is very clean.

The interior is in amazing shape.

Starting Price is $4000.

Anyone out there think it would be worth?

Otherwise the best it could be would be a daily driver?

It IS a nice car, no doubt. Add the factory 9C1 police-spec f/r sway bars and brake pads and it'll make one neat car to enjoy and drive. To me, though, $4k is a little high, even with the low miles. What the low miles also means is that EVERY piece of rubber hose on the car's fuel system will need to be replaced due to the "old stuff" not being too compatible with the newer gasolines we now have (ethanol, etc.). Fuel tank to carb, plus possibly the vacuum lines on the engine?

On the plus side . . . the cars were reliable and comfortable, just not "opulent" as the similar Cadillac Sevilles of that vintage OR the seemingly-forgotten Buick versions.

3-speed automatic is NOT going to have the same off-line response as a 4 or 6-speed automatic, though.

$3K would be better, as the final transaction price, I feel. BE SURE to see "where it's lived its life", too! A V-8 would certainly be preferrable to a I-6! As would power steering, power disc brakes, a/c, and AM/FM radio -- at the $3K pricepoint.

Remember, when you take delivery, that "higher" premium you might pay for the "low miles" becomes "depreciation material" that might not be ever recouped.

I know it's "only a 4-door," but I'd hate to subject that thing to road salt and ruin it in a few short years. I'd go in and offer $2500. If I really liked it, I'd go $3000. If you planned on driving it regularly, you might as well plan on rebuilding the carb and putting in a new fuel pump, and changing out all the rubber--radiator, brake, and fuel hoses, as mentioned above. I dig the color... I've always thought these would make great regular drivers in nicer weather.

I have a 76 Olds Omega Brougham, basically the same car as the Nova. When my car was a week old I installed Pontiac Trans Am front springs and sway bars and a 9C1 police Nova variable high effort steering box and Koni shocks. F & X body cars use the same front sub-assy frame. Later when the T/A's got rear disc brakes I installed those as well. If your car has a I-6 don't be disappointed as the engine is very reliable and strong. It's a seven main bearing type. It will deliver decent mileage and just touch 100mph given enough time with a 3.08 gear. IMO the four door of those cars ( 1975-1979 ) is the best looking because of it's roofline and in particular it's "C" pillar. Look for pricing of what you should pay at NADA. 4,000 is cheap for such a great car.

This is a great car that I'm sure will be cherished by whoever owns it. However I am very familiar with this color as my college roommate had a Pontiac Catalina with the same paint and interior hue. (I've never seen that color with a contrasting interior color.) In my view it has to be one of the great "what were they thinking?" colors of all time. Everyone has their own taste, and I'm sure there are many who like this pea-soup green color GM offered for a few years in the 1970s. However to me it seems almost deliberately dull.

If you love it, great. Don't worry about the money or "what it's worth". What it's worth is fun and enjoyment. Try that in a $4000.00 '98 Malibu!:rolleyes:

Boy, I was thinking $4K was a pretty good price for such a nice car. If it were for sale at Hershey, it probably would be $6.5K. I guess the price depends on whether it has been gone through - as mentioned the rubber parts, etc. - If it's already been "updated", then I'd offer close to the $4K. If not, then less.

I'd think seriously about it. These old family type cars are a whole lot more fun than you would think to drive. And parts are available. And working on them is so easy compared to many newer cars. Buy it and go anywhere. I have a 1980 Volare 4 door with the six and now 21,000 miles on it. I love it. (I paid $4800 for mine in 2007 with 8500 miles. No real problem with rubber except radiator hoses and change all fluids)

Your bringing back some memories with this car. I had one the same color and year with an inline 6 and 3 speed automatic about 20 years ago. What a great running and reliable car that was. I happen to like the inline 6 of that era better than the 8's. Some of the 8's had soft cams back in those years. The one I had had the typical rust issues of the Not So Great North East. I also had one in light blue. :cool: Dandy Dave!

they come up often with the C91 package ( from what I have seen ) ... anywhere from a 1000 to 2500 ( depending on condition ) .

With some thing with this age, alot of rubber hoses and a full look thru on the brakes, changing fluids, etc .....

How much of the work are you willing to do ... also consider that in cost .
