327 or 356?

We are offering a '47 Super block for sale. I have been asked if it is a 327 or a 356. Is there an easy way to tell other than removing the pan and counting the mains? Shouldn't the engine # tell?

Obviously I know little about newer Packard engines. Thanks!

To keep it simple... If the engine number starts with "F5" it is a 21st Series 356.

With a number of F500375, your 356 engine is a 21st Series (1946-1947) that should have come out of a 1946 Clipper (not 1947 which was the range I gave you).

I think Dave's numbers may be the actual production numbers while the number source I use has the allocated number range for the year.
