New remotes problem

Got new "old" remotes from ikeyless. They are used Cadillac remotes. Tried their own generic brand but they sent the wrong ones. Programmed the cadillac remotes as per instructions, ground using the wire by the brake module in trunk. Basically the trunk unlocks sometimes with delay and the doors try to lock/ unlck but only go halfway open or close. Any ideas. Only one of my original worked but buttons were worn.

Sounds to me like the remotes are working fine. The locking actuators in the doors always need replacing and can be purchased at any auto parts store. They were common to many GM cars.

Your problem might be able to be fixed by removing the door panel and lubing the moving parts of the door locks. Instructions for removing the door panels can be found here:

Door Panel Removal Instructions - Reatta Owners Journal

If you decide you need new door lock actuators they are available in the Reatta Store at a good price.

Since all these systems work off the fuse you had problems with, and you never found out what was wrong, it's likely that issue is affecting the voltage/current on this circuit causing all these latest issues. Doubt both lock actuators and the trunk latch would all go south at the same time.

Steve mentioned that his original remote works and I am assuming that he is implying that the doors lock and unlock fine with the original. But when he tries the replacements he says that the lock and unlock is eratic.

I do not have the remotes for my '89, maybe someday I'll order one, but is there different frequencys used on replacement remotes and can the receiver have a difficulty in adapting to the frequencys?
