Power Antenna

I have an 1988 that needs a new or repaired power antenna. My antenna motor runs and the antenna goes 1/2-2/3 the way up. It doesn not come back down all the way and the motor will then run continually. I just leave it up and remove the lead from the power. Does anybody sell a repair kit or rebuilt unit?

If anybody is looking to trade I have a light pod (left side of steering wheel) that works great and is in excellent condition.

Sounds like the nylon rope that drives the metal antenna shaft is broken; common problem. You can do the repair yourself if your good at opening up these devices, OR send it to one of our members who repair these power antennas (Barney? Padgett?).

Here is a link to some old discussion with instruction. This was back when you could buy the repair parts from GM. You might find something on Ebay but the problem is length. If you make/buy a cord that is too short, it will kink, if too long, it will kink.
