Guest
I have some old family photos from Texas from 1905 to 1930 that I'm trying to date by the age of 2 or 3 cars that show up. Are there any good "picture books" on-line or at the libraries that would be a good start?
Bruce
Guest
Bruce,
it would be faster if you send me copies of the photos and have the visitors here identify them.
Peter
peterg@aaca.org
1937hd45
prinfac, Please send the copies to Peter, identifing old car photos is a lot of fun. The best "picture book" is The Standard Catalog of American Cars 1805-1942. With 1536 pages of photos and information it should be your first choise of research books. Guest
I use the "Standard Catalog" to do this exact thing with old photos I collect.
Use the radiator grille, wheel style and center caps and then general body shape to determine what it is. I've been very successful in ID'ing cars this way, and I have no real knowledge of pre-war cars.
