DCE
I just received my newly purchased rim jack and am looking for the proper steps to remove the tire from the rim and then to reinstall the tire and tube. One concern is how much can I collapse the rim without damaging it.Thanks for your comments & instructions.Dale
Bob Scafani
For 25" rims, if you pull the rim ends past each other about three inches that should reduce the rim diameter to 23". That should allow you to use the tire irons to massage the tire beads over the edges of the rim. It is possible to pull the rim out of round so care must be taken. The rim will flex some during the tire removal and the rim tool will come loose causing you to use a few choice words.
DCE
Thanks for the information guys! I followed Bob's advise being I purchased the 25" wheel rims from him. I collapsed no further than 3" past the break and used a couple of tire spoons/irons. Made a pleasant afternoon of it and got all 5 tires/tubes/flaps installed with little to no problem. I am finding it usually does not pay to get in a rush with any of these processes. Thanks again for all the comments.Dale
