nickelroadster
Doesn't look like you are going to get much in the way of responses. Stephens are rare enough that people are just not going to have these kind of parts on their shelve. I think your best bet is to try to round up as many owners of stephens as you can and work through them. Try to gather as much info on who the manufacturer of your parts and look for them. I suspect that your search will be long and hard as they are just not very common is the U.S. let alone Sweden.

I have been in touch with some Stephens owners in the<ST1:p USA</ST1:p. They don’t have many parts left but assists me with pictures and some measurements from their cars.<O:p</O:p<O:p</O:pThere were just 25000-35000 cars built during the years 1917-1924. No one knows the exact number as they think that the Stephens Motorworks in <ST1:pFreeport</ST1:p exaggerated their production.<O:p</O:pThe year 1924 we here in <ST1:pSweden</ST1:p had about 50 Stephenscars on our roads. A majority of these were used in the northern parts of <ST1:pSweden</ST1:p and I guess those cars appeared here as second hand cars.<O:p<O:pI think Stephens Motorworks bought parts like headlights, doorhandles and so on from different suppliers and some other cars must have been equipped with these lights. That increases my chances to find what I am looking for. <O:p Edited May 10, 2013 by Claes Rocklin (see edit history)

Claes Rocklin
I appreciate your help. I think there are just about 30 cars left today. Just a few of them is driveable. I have managed to get in touch with a few Stephens owners in the USA. They have no spare parts on the shelf but they provide pictures and measurements when I ask them. My Stephens was very complete when i brougt it home but somebody had snatched some hubcaps, the doorhandles and the forkmounted headlights during the time it stood abandoned in the deep woods. If you want you can reach me on my E-mail Edited April 28, 2013 by Claes Rocklin (see edit history)
Layden B
I am assuming you are watching ebay. Sellers will not know what car their unknown lamps fit so search by " fork mount light" or such.
Claes Rocklin
Yes, I am watcing eBay every day. Parts for the Stephenscars doesen´t show up very often. Chuck Kuntz
My late friend had a lot of Stephens parts that he sold to Lowell Stephens several years ago. I assume he is a AACA member. He was from the mid west I think. Have you contacted him?
Claes Rocklin
Chuck! Thanks for your message! No I haven´t been in touch with Lowell Stephens. I don´t have his e-mail. Maybe I can find him somewhere on this forum but i don´t know how. I am new here and I am not familiar with this site. Maybe you could mail over his e-mail to me? You can send it to my e-mail address : claes.rocklin@spray.se I must say that you Americans are very generous. A lot of you are eager to help and I get messages almost every day. But the Stephens is a difficult car with just a few survivors. I know some Stephens owners in the USA who are supporting me with pictures and information, but they have no extra parts on the shelf. Regards Claes
Chuck Kuntz
I don't have an email address for him. I will look for him in the AACA roster if I can find mine. Leonard had a early twenties touring and an extremely original low mileage sedan (1919?)
Claes Rocklin
Chuck!I would appreciate if you do that. Finding the correct headlights will be a large step on the way. My Stephens is a wonderful car and the only existing example in Sweden and maybe in Europe. It’s a large car with jumpseats and I think it can take 6 passengers. It appears to be mechanically complete, but it needs a total rewooding and some rust repair. My Stephens was actually driveable when I brought it home. Rewooding the body now. Edited March 31, 2013 by Claes Rocklin (see edit history)
flackmaster
You might also check with Don Axelrod, Headlight Headquarters, hdlthqtrs@aol.com be sure to either reference this thread with the picture, or email the photo with description/dimensions. nickelroadster
Glad to be of assistance. I always feel like I have accomplished something when finding rare parts and it doesn't matter if they are parts I need or for someone else. Keep us here informed on any progress with that car. Claes Rocklin
To flackmaster. I have sent the guy a request and he actually seems to have the headlights I am looking for.The only problem I can see is the shipping. It will cost a lot and how will the headlights survive the long trip to Sweden without damage? Bought a headlight from USA earlier and the lens became cracked during the transport. I think they are throwing the parcels. Thanks for your help!

flackmaster
Long Live Don Axelrod...The undisputed Ruler of all that Guides us, Headlights, Headlight Parts, and Headlight thingy's and whatchamacallits. See him live and in person at Hershey for the last umpteen million years. A living legend. Just don't ask him for Ford parts, or about YKW...Indeed all's well that end's well (in this case correct undamaged headlights.) And regarding your being contacted by someone with no phone or identity information and whose paypal account is "out of order" ...just use Western Union or MoneyGram) and just so happens to have a cache of NOS Stephens parts....HA!! if it sounds too good to be true, it is.
