1988 vs 1989 headlight stalk array

In 1988 Reattas, the vertical headlight stalk has the option of dimming the overhead interior light (not to be confused with the IP dimmer lever). That same option is absent from the 1989 model year. How would I dim the interior light on a 1989 MY? And...would a 1988 stalk work in a 1989?

Not quite sure what you're talking about.

The headlight switch for both years has the instrument panel dimmer slider. If pushed all the way to the right, it will turn on the interior lights.

The Riviera version of the switch includes a twilight sentinel slider. This would keep the headlights on for a period after the car is turned off. This option does not work on the Reatta though.

If you could clarify a little more (maybe pictures?) maybe I'll understand it easier.

You may be right. I saw the headlight stalk in an '88 MY with sentinel slider. With the car I saw, it's possible the owner replaced the original stalk (I'll have to see another '88 interior to confirm).

But is there a way to dim the interior light in an '89?

Ervin, my '89 works as Marck describes - the interior "dome" light is either on or off, with moving the slider to the far right position for on.

hope this helps!

Not without a fair bit of modifications to the wiring. Dome light is in parallel with all the courtesy lights. Would have to isolate it and then rewire through something like the twilight dimmer in a Riviera switch pod.
