Guest 7th_texan
I have a '41 Crown Imperial town sedan with the hydraulic power window system offered that year. I'm having an issue with the system not activating when tasked with pushing the windows back up. The solenoid which activates the pump occasionally doesn't work; there's a loud click but the pump doesn't engage. We've narrowed down the problem to the switch installed on one of the two solenoids attached to the pump. This switch has two posts so that a wire can run from the switch to each of the two solenoids. I took a photo of it but can't get it to upload to this site.My shop manual has no information on trouble shooting the power window system. Anyone have experience with these? Specifically I'm looking for a source to find a replacement switch which screws into the solenoid. I can send photos of the installation to better explain what I'm looking for. Many thanks for your assistance.Steve

c49er
The hex shaped switch looks the same as a 1952-54 Plymouth/Dodge overdrive lock out switch or also the Chrysler/Dodge/DeSoto M-6 Transmission interupter switch. I have never seen that type of solenoid though.Picture of a 50-52 Chrysler M-6 transmission interupter switch. Guest 7th_texan
Thanks very much John for posting the photos of the car's solenoid switch. We believe the problem is in the switch attached to the solenoid, which is the silver part in the photo above. It appears to thread onto the solenoid but I didn't attempt to remove it for fear of causing damage - at least at the moment, it works some of the time!If anyone can guide me on this or direct me to a source, I would appreciate it.
