Guest steve.43
This radiator cap was on my Model A when I bought it. I wanted an authentic cap, so I changed it. I have no idea what this cap is for, but thought someone might be able to use it if I can identify it. Can anyone help? Thanks,Steve in Indiana Edited March 16, 2013 by steve.43 changed text (see edit history)

Guest steve.43
Thanks, John. It kinda looks like a cheapie, but thought it worth checking out. I appreciate your information.steve
Curti
I have an original one of these in my Chevrolet hood ornaament collection. It is 1934 Chevrolet truck. Reproductions of these exist but do not have the makers mark which I believe is Ternstadt. I believe this to be a reproduction or a modified original. Please see pix of the real deal. knee-action
Google this company name: Franklin Die Casting. Click on WINGED AUTOMOBILE MASCOTS 1. The item at the top of this discussion appears to be #374. The second item would appear to be #345. Clearly aftermarket items. I have an original Franklin box top for an item in the #374-family. The proper name of the ornament is FLYING DRAGON. Reference to the FLYING DRAGON as a “1934 Chevrolet truck” item got started in the repro business in the 1990’s. This is incorrect. The lighter trucks in 1934 were frequently fitted with the familiar accessory eagle radiator cap, part # 600201. The parts books do not list an accessory cap for trucks, they ended up on trucks simply because they fit. Get out your magnifying glass and look at item # 290882059105 on eBay for a good example of this. Thank you both steve.43 and Curti for the opportunity to discuss these mascots.
