bobwhite
I'm having trouble with my door locking system. I replaced the solenoid in the driver's side door. That helped, but now both doors are sluggish when locking and unlocking. Looking at the service manual, it looks as if it is clustered with the cables under the driver's seat. I can't see anything like it under the seat. A older post said it was in the kick panel on the drivers side. I need to know where it is located, and how to get at it. I will be grateful for any help I get.
Guest Mc_Reatta
It is behind the shroud (kick panel) on the outer side of the driver's side footwell. It is part of the cable harness running through there. A lot of times sluggish locks are due to a lack of lubrication of the actuators and mechanical linkages between them and the door latch. bobwhite
I've lubed the actuators and linkages so I thought I would try the relay. How do you get the kick panel off? Thanks
Guest Mc_Reatta
Remove the plastic carpet retainer that runs along the bottom of the sill and curves up the front of the door opening by pulling straight up and away. Remove knee bolster under drivers side of dash. Carpet should peel away, then look for any screws holding shroud in place. There's probably things I've forgotten about, but it should be obvious how it all goes together.
