auburnseeker
Ok this probably sounds a bit crazy but I bought 120 NOS wheel cylinders from a closed Studebaker dealership figuring they were Studebaker wheel cylinders which have a good marketability to them. Well after I got them Home and identified them all with my 1953 Wagner books, not one of them fits a Studebaker. They fit mostly GM and Mopar 30's-50's. They are all in really good shape and many are still sealed. Well due to age the boots on most are fine but the cups have deteriorated on most just enough that I need to replace them before selling them. The bores are excellent on most as they are new and stored fairly well. Well after paying 5.00 each for them, they get disassembled soda blasted to clean off any minor flash rust on the outside, then honed if necessary and reassembled with new cups. Well come to find out there are cheap overseas ones available for many of the applications. Those at 20.00 each or less so about all some of these are worth is 20.00 even though they are original Wagner units like came on the cars new. The GM ones are even Delco and all are made in the USA, not that most buyers care anymore it seems. Well the dilema is in that when I went to the parts store to buy cups as my supply of 1 and 3/8, 1 and 1/4 inch and even 1 and 1/8 got depleted pretty quick I found they are about 2.50 for each cup. Even when bought in bulk they are over 2.00 each. Well If I can only get 20.00 for many of the cylinders even the rarer ones with unique applications it's hard to have 10.00 in the cylinder and only get paid 10.00 for the labor of doing each especially since most are sold on ebay with all the associated fees and all the time it takes to list and ship them. Does anyone have or know of a source where I can buy the cups for say .50-1.00 especially if I buy say 50 of each size? Otherwise I may have to just suck it up and scrap them, which really seems like a shame. Any input or anyone who has a bunch of good NOS ones that wants to sell them please let me know. These are things I never bothered taking when I cleaned out old garages. I didn't know they were that valuable:rolleyes: Usually everyone just threw them away when they cleaned out an old shop especially if they already had a box or two of them like I did. If it was just a few for my own car I would just pay the parts store price as you would only need 8 and be on my way, not a big deal but when I'm trying to do it from a business standpoint, it's just not worth it. Thanks for the help and sorry for the rant.

auburnseeker
They only had the 1 and 1/8 listed I was going to contact them about the others but then I saw they were made in China. I would prefer the cylinders and the parts I use in them are all made in the USA when I sell them. I guess it matters to me and no one else. Thanks for the lead though. F&J
Try N.B.Pease & Co, Palmer Mass. A huge old parts warehouse; he buys up overstock, defunct parts stores, etc. Explain up front what you are doing, maybe he can help with a volume sale, but I would not know. All the cups and boots I have bought there are/or seem fresh stock. Google will bring up the ph number. No recorder, no website.
