Beltfed Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I need a drawing on the trunk of a 1938 Zephyr. The trunk door latch is incorrect somehow. The shaft is so long it hits the spare tire, which now has a dimple in the side wall. I have purchased several manuals on the '38, the latest one being "Zephyr Chassis Parts Catalogue", but nary a word or drawing on the trunk lid. It does show the lighting stuff. Where do I find the information? Thanks
C. Douglas Johnson Jr. Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I have a 38 coupe, exactly what do you need?
Beltfed Posted February 27, 2013 Author Posted February 27, 2013 I need an exploded diagram of the trunk lid latch. This would include the parts used to attach it to the lid, such as screws, washers, springs, nuts, and so on. Thanks
Beltfed Posted March 7, 2013 Author Posted March 7, 2013 OK, no one seems to have a book drawing on the trunk latch. Maybe Lincoln never included it in any of their manuals? Then, how about a picture someone took of their '37-'39 as they were restoring it. Or can some one just measure theirs and tell me the length of the handle shaft. Thanks.
C. Douglas Johnson Jr. Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 mine sticks out 3/8 of an inch from back plate of deck lid, just measured it.
Beltfed Posted March 8, 2013 Author Posted March 8, 2013 Thanks Mr. Johnson. Mine is much longer than that. Just wondering if PO may have used a door handle instead of a trunk handle. I guess I'll cut the shaft and hopefully, no one will be wise to it. Well, around these here parts anyway as there are no Zephyrs other than mine that I'm aware of.
