tomcarnut Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Hi,I am getting ready to tackle a lose cone clutch lining on my model 35 buick. It appears that I need to take the engine out. Any advise or opinions? I have not taken an engine out of anything before. I hope to fix a few leaks around the time gear case and the water pump while it is out. Any tricks or issues with this. Thanks,Tom MuthCincinnati,Ohio
Mark Shaw Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 (edited) Make a cradle to set them on, and get a buddy to help you. Remove the radiator first, then disconnect the driveline and remove the engine and tranny together. It is much easier to remove both. You need somebody to watch what you cannot see while doing this. More eyes on the process helps so nobody gets hurt (including the car).Bob Knaak in Orange CA is the guy for cone clutch relining.... Edited February 21, 2013 by Mark Shaw (see edit history)
