I know this is a modern car, but I was wondering if any members had any tricks to repair scratched plastic interior panels. Short of dying the panel is there any other trick that will work? The scratches are not deep. Thanks

Try scratching them "backwards", against the direction of the original scratches, with the topside of your fingernail. The "white" ends are the result of the oils in the plastic base stock drying out, due to thinness, possibly. Scratching them "backwards" might move some of the oils from the thicker sections of the "flakes" back to the end of the "flakes", taking the "white" look away or minimizing it. After doing that, might try some of the interior protectant wipes, gently, to wipe things down and further rehydrate the plastic.

Re-dyeing, even airbrush methods, would probably be messy and highly involved to do. Not to mention the cost invovled. OR the necessity of color-matching things . . . and all that might entail.

Just some thoughts,

Thanks. I'll try your idea and see what happens. I agree that the raised portion of the plastic must be removed. I could not think of a way to do that and not cause additional damage.
