MarkV
So, I have a question, I am thinking of replacing my R-12 with R-134 in my new Reatta. Out of curiosity what will the effect be on the the computer monitor? I know that the pressures between R-12 and R-134 may be different will this shut off the compressor? SeanR
variable valve orifices would regulate the flow over the stock orifice to increase cooling efficiency. It's the orifice that woulld really matter in this case. R134 operates at a higher pressure, so you would have to add less. Rule of thumb is 10% less R134a than what is listed on the capacity sticker under the hood for R12.
Guest Mc_Reatta
No, the BCM monitors the high and low side temperatures to determine when to cycle the compressor on and off. So the pressure difference at a specific temperature between the two is compensated for. You lose about 10% cooling ability with 134a due to reduced efficiency of the condenser with 134a. SeanR
Reatta doesnt use an orifice tube?
