Dwight Romberger
Hi All,If you added bumper mounted guide lights in the 20's and 30's were they wired to the existing light switch or were they put on a new, separate switch?Dwight
Barney Eaton
I don't know the "official" answer but the extra lights were for country driving, and would have been considered too much light for city driving. My guess would be the extra lamps would have a method for operating seperate from the normal headlight switch.
Dwight Romberger
Thanks Barney. That makes sense. I found this NOS switch on Ebay. I think I will try that. I think it will look like a period add-on switch.Vintage Fog Lamp Switch 30s 40s 50s Ford Mercury | eBay
Seldenguy
It appears to have a rheostat attached, if it does than it will be for the heater. --Bob
Dwight Romberger
Thanks Bob. I did not recognize that as a rheostat. I will check it out before I use it.
