Guest tonypowell
I replaced the bell cranks on my 90 Reatta with the stronger improved ones. All was fine for about a month. Now, the right headlight acts like it cant latch in the open position (flops). I checked both manual lift knobs on the motors. The drivers side is nice and tight and will work the door manually. On the passenger side that is "floppy", the manual crank just freewheels with no resistance in either direction, and does not raise the HL door. The entire assembly does lift up in the wind on freeway driving.I have ordered new gears and bushings and am just looking for other possibilities before starting the operation.UPDATE>>With a bit more turning of the knobs i was able to get both headlights locked in the "up" position. Question...Does keeping the headlights up have and negative effect when they are activated with the light switch? Looks like the kits i ordered may do the trick? Guest Corvanti
other than taking the headlight cover off and making sure the bolts/nuts haven't fallen off and/or are as tight as they should be, i'd say wait for the new gears/bushings... (the kit i purchased from a vendor here last spring had those included with the crank - still working great)...
NCReatta
If you have to lock the motor in the up position until the extra parts arrive to solve the problem, be sure you unplug the motor so you don't cause unprecedented wear on the motor. Jim
I didn't read the link but the bellcranks are only part of the headlight operation troubles. The rollers inside the gearbox portion of the motor assembly need to be replaced.Get them from Kingsley Baker hkbjr@yahoo.com or Barney Eaton barney@texas.net.
