Guest
I just watched an auction on e-Bay of (4) 34 Chev Master hubcaps that went for $1225. I've been looking for a set for 15 years but to pay that much sight unseen seems unreal. Would't it seem that somebody would tool these up again to supply an obvious demand ? ronbarn
Absolutely - That is an incredible price - hope they were perfect. Back about ten or twelve years ago a guy by the name of McConville (or close to that) had skins for sale. They were very good and when installed over the base hubcap were perfect. They sold for about $20 apiece. I would imagine he still has the dies. Bill Hirsch also sold repros that were excellent. Maybe with this demand he will pull out his tooling. Guest
McConville claims his dies were broken - I've talked to him at Hershey.I don't know if Hirsch had his own tools or if they came from McConville.
ronbarn
Assume that you talked to McConville realitively recently. He made some great stuff for the '34, but since I had bought what I had needed had lost contact.<P>Hirsch sells hubcaps for most models before and after the '34 Master. I don't know why this one model is no longer available. May be a good idea to contact Bill.
Guest
Good suggestion, Ron. I e-mailed Bill Hirsch about making some repros. He answered back that he has the tools and is willing to make another run if we can generate sufficient interest to make it worthwhile. I told him I would see what interest I could generate. If anyone out there is interested, drop me an e-mail.
