Bushwack Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Regarding the center brake lights, are the same Silvania 891 bulbs used for a convertible also used for the coupe? Also, how would I access the center brake unit to change the bulbs (on a coupe)? Through the trunk or would I need to take off an interior panel? TIA 1
Rawja Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Coupe uses an 1141 (from memory) bulb, access is via the interior trim above the pass-through door from the trunk.
Bushwack Posted January 28, 2013 Author Posted January 28, 2013 So.... using the picture above, should I first open the pass thru door (green)? Once open, how do I take off the trim to access the center brake light (and do I need to be concerned about any clips)? And once the trim is off, is there anything else I need to know or is it a straight-forward approach? Also, what tool(s) would I need?
2reattas Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Yes open hatch, two torx screws holding strap hook on, should pull straight out towards front of car,
Bushwack Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 Thank everyone. And for a side question - I need to replace the rear speakers. Regarding access, can I just pop off the grills (as I would do on a convertible) or must I take off the trim pieces that surround the rear speakers.I like to know what to expect before getting started.
Guest Corvanti Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 from when i did my "rears" - you have to go in thru the back (trunk area).
Guest Mc_Reatta Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Just keep going and take the panel on either side off while you have the center one out. Just a screw or two and they pull straight out also. Similar fasteners to the ones holding the door panels on. Speakers and holders are right there.
Vincent Vega Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Yes open hatch, two torx screws holding strap hook on, should pull straight out towards front of car,Like he said. Pull panel "straight out" it uses the same plastic pins/rubber grommets as used elsewhere, except there are tabs that hold the sides down. If you lift up they will break. This will eventually cause the panel center to warp and misalign with the other panels.
