WindsorRon Posted January 22, 2013 Share Posted January 22, 2013 My 1949 Chrysler Windsor convertible is in the body shop about to be restored. I am trying to find the build sheet to determine the correct exterior color. My vin number 70782726 will not come up on any decoder. I believe the correct color to be Pagoda Cream (24681373). Can any one confirm this? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
ply33 Posted January 22, 2013 Share Posted January 22, 2013 (edited) Looks like a good serial number to me. My decoder at Plymouth First Decade: Where is the VIN? shows:
<tbody>
[TH=align: right]Serial Number[/TH]70782726

[TH=align: right]Found in range[/TH]70725001 to 70793638

[TH=align: right]Serial[/TH]57726 of 68638

[TH=align: right]Year[/TH]1949

[TH=align: right]Make[/TH]Chrysler

[TH=align: right]Model Name[/TH]Windsor

[TH=align: right]Model Code[/TH]C45-2

[TH=align: right]Engine[/TH]6 cylinder 250.6 cu. In. L-head

[TH=align: right]Wheelbase[/TH]125 1/2 inches
</tbody>
However the serial number was just that, a sequential number per model engineering code per assembly plant. So does not tell what paint, trim or options the car shipped with. You can, however, send the serial number and some money to the Chrysler Historical Collection and they can send you a copy of the "build card" which will show that information and more. c49er Posted January 22, 2013 Share Posted January 22, 2013 Pagoda Cream (24681373) was replaced by Belvedere Ivory for the 1949 Chrysler. This info out of the 1949 Chrysler Paint and Upholstry book.Bob Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
WindsorRon Posted January 23, 2013 Author Share Posted January 23, 2013 Thank you for the information especially Bob "c49er." You have helped me several times. Now I need to find a color chip for Belvedere Ivory. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

c49er Posted January 23, 2013 Share Posted January 23, 2013 I don't know that there is much if any color difference between the two. You would have to compare them side by side.Bob Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
WindsorRon Posted January 23, 2013 Author Share Posted January 23, 2013 Were the interiors and exteriors a single color? My interior dash and trim appear to be vintage. The exterior is a re-paint. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
