mikewest
Will a Lincoln 12 trans bolt to a early Ford V8? I know is longer but thinking it would be a nice improvement to A Driver Ford Flathead.Of coarse you would need to go to a open drive line or shorten the tourque tube and shaft. Thank you Mike
Waldren
I have used a 51 ford flathead and bolted up to the Lincoln Transmission I now have a 42 Ford truck bolted to the standard Lincoln Transmission and overdrive. It is in a 42 Continental coupe and has been in there for years. The motor mounts are welded to the frame was the only modification. It is recommended in old Ford books as a replacement for your tired V-12. Lee Waldren Fort Myers.
peecher
A better choice might be a '49-'50 Mercury OD transmission? It too will bolt up to your early Ford engine and is already set up for open drive. It is basically the same as the early Lincoln but has "taller" gear ratios in low and second which are close to the ratios used with standard Ford transmissions. Waldren
are we talking about using a V-8 in a Lincoln or a Lincoln transmission in a Ford? The closed drive shaft can be used if we are talking about a Lincoln V-12 to Ford V-8. I have had several Lincoln's with V-8 conveersion but I have never have used a Zephyr transmission in a Ford.
