To each his own. Do to your car what makes you happy is what I say. I think it will look cool. Would I do it to mine? Probably not, but I do think it is a cool idea if you're not into originality. One could argue that lights in the portholes were available back then as accessories and so could be considered at least period correct. We've discussed something like this before Steve. I actually started the discussion just to make some interesting conversation. I, for one, look forward to seeing what you come up with. Mike, get to work on those zoomies you keep talking about! I want to hear that straight eight growl! Lol. :P

What color and how far out from the fender are you planning on installing these so other drivers can really see them? They would be useless as a turn signal on the side of the car without doing so IMO. As a steady-glow 'clearance light', maybe. Let's see some pics.

Don't laugh, I have considered zoomies, or maybe just a "cut out" on the drivers side, but on a car of mine's "stature" (90L) maybe full length lake pipes along the running boards would be more appropriate.

Oh boy ! Now i'm going to have the "purists" in a tizzy........

Sorry guys Ive been swamp at work. I had to put this on hold but heres my first attempt. This is not the final product.

In this pic you can see the plexi cylinder inside one of the ports, ive moved from a hollow cylinder to a solid rod of plexI that I will sand down to a dome for the outer part of the turn signal.

Im gonna drill a hole on the back of the port and use a 194 housing for a turn signal. Im debating on making the outer dome flush or at an angle.

Trial and error I guess.

Sandy Olsen's son (of Olsen's Gaskets that is) developed a flasher option for the third brake light on modern cars. It flashes several times when brakes are applied before it goes to a constant light. He has been installing them on new cars at local dealerships in SW Washington. I believe it works with LED lights to provide a more noticable flash.

Perhaps you should do the same with your port hole turn signals....

Just a thought...
