keiser31
Sounds like pot metal and will continue to disintegrate. Got a photo or two of it??
Guest fluffernutter1951
Sounds like pot metal and will continue to disintegrate. Got a photo or two of it??Thank you for your fast response. After (2) hrs. on the computer I found out that it was made of either aluminum or zinc. Then I went to (2) metal shops and found out it was aluminum. Neither place wanted to work on something that old (80 yrs. +). So much for Plan 1. I have now decided to use Plan 2 which is to attach a cut piece of aluminum ( 1/4 " thick)to the inside of the cap with a screw/bolt/lock washer after drilling out a center hole. Now I have a base to attach my 1925 (brass). Star inner cap to using (3) screwsI'm simply going to paint the outside of the cap since it's just to be used for every day use, very basic looking, and not likely to be ripped off compared to my (2) restored moto meters. it's great when a plan comes together. You have a nice looking car. Great motoring.
